In June, the Live Loud ladies got to do something really special and volunteer with the non-profit close to one of our own’s heart. We volunteered this month with Girls Rock Charlotte alongside our amazing and incomparable Krystle Baller. The Live Loud crew showed up in the green room to help girls and gender diverse youth prepare for their big rock concert at the McGlohon Theatre. Not only that, but we brought the food with Juli Ghazi of Pure Pizza donating a whole bunch of pies!
To say that volunteering for this event was impactful would be an understatement. We connected with these kids and shared in their excitement and empowerment when they saw themselves dressed up, fixed up in fun stage makeup, and ready to put on one of the greatest shows of all time. The purpose of Girls Rock Charlotte is to help these youth find confidence and compassion and we’d say that that’s exactly what they do. Once everyone was ready to go, they hit the stage with their band and performed songs for the audience that they’d been practicing in the days leading up to the show. There were vocalists, guitar leads, keyboardists, and more all playing their hearts out and showing us all how talented and hardcore they are.
It was a legitimately magical evening in which everyone there gained something they didn’t have when they walked in the door. Some of us went home with tears and some of us went home with smiles, but we all went home with full hearts and ready to do more. Want to feel amazing and volunteer to help these little ones feel amazing too? We’ll be working with these gals again, so keep an eye out for the next event. We promise you will want to be there!
