Number of Times I Have Frantically Asked “Where’s my phone?” while holding it:  > 20

I don’t know about you, but I have been tired lately.  Not “I want a power nap” tired but “I want to watch mindless television in my pajamas for a week straight and not communicate with any other human beings” tired.

No matter how many inspirational quotes I post on Facebook, there are times I need more drill sergeant and less cheerleader.

A while back, a classmate from high school whom I haven’t seen in over twenty years responded to my happy birthday wishes on Facebook by congratulating me on a recent recognition and recalling how it had been my goal even way back then to one day become an attorney.

To be honest, it had been a long time since I thought about how badly I once wanted to be exactly where I am.  That simple reminder re-fueled me in a way that few things can.

If you find yourself where I was- feeling run down, overwhelmed or unsure about what to do next- remember your “why” and be proud of yourself for honoring the dreams of your younger self and grateful to all the people who helped you get there.

While I am not normally a fan of looking back, there are times when it is the perfect incentive to keep you moving forward.
