In April, Live Loud Gives Back headed out to volunteer at Bike LUCK, one of the largest fundraisers of the year for Camp LUCK. At its core, Camp LUCK serves as an important support network for families in the Charlotte area caring for children with congenital heart disease. Aside from all of the programming and assistance they offer on a daily basis to these families, twice each year, camp is held. One weekend is Family Camp and for a full week at the end of the summer, Kids Camp is held. Kids Camp is an opportunity for these special kids to experience sleepaway camp specifically designed to keep them safe and make them feel like regular kids.
What makes Bike LUCK so special is that a lot of the volunteer support for the event is provided by heart kids and their families. They greet cyclists at the start of the ride, provide water and homemade baked goods at rest stops, and cheer them on as they cross the finish line. We were honored to be out there side by side with these amazing kids and their moms, dads, brothers, and sisters. Our Live Loud bosses are all about our community and this was a place where you could see and feel it all come together.
Did you miss this event, but still want to help this organization with their mission? One great way to get involved is to donate gently worn baby or children’s clothing to Camp LUCK Closet that is distributed to families in need through Sanger Heart and Vascular and Novant Pediatric Cardiology.
We can’t wait for next month to get all of you amazing women together again to make a difference volunteering in our community. Details are still coming together for what’s to come, so stay tuned and check in for updates on the Facebook page! Have an awesome organization you think would be a great fit for our group? Reach out to me. Until then, find little ways to help out the people around you!
